After winning the European Poker Tour’s inaugural tournament last November 1 in Budapest, 28 year-old Will Fry is now 766,606 USD richer.The Nottingham poker player edged out 531 participants in the Hungarian capital while Ciprian Hrisca from Romania took the second spot. Hrisca lost to Fry in the heads-up play. The poker player said that he will use his winnings to help out his family, make a donation to charity, and pay his mortgage. He claimed that he has been playing poker since birth. Fry has cashed at 6 previous EPT events but had never made a final table before the Hungary tournament. The European Poker Tour is Fry’s first major live event. His first prize also gives him a chance to participate at the European Poker Tour’s Grand Finals in Monte Carlo which is set to happen in April 2009. The event’s grand prize is around 12,800 USD. A total of 71 Hungarians participated in the event which took place at the Sofitel Hotel in Budapest. The 4-day poker event attracted many of the domestic poker scene’s top players and several players from every corner of the globe.
